List of the Coolest Free/Open Source programs that I use like everyday.

Today I thought I'd do something different because my day to day life is really boring. This is a list of sweet programs I use all the time. Best part, they all free. As we  know free is the best.



OpenOffice
First on the list is OpenOffice.org. This is really nice program that does everything that a full Microsoft Office Suite does. The code was written by a company called StarOffice it is now owned by Sun Microsystems. It is an open source program.



TweetDeck

Second up is TweetDeck. It is basically a browser just for twitter updates. It also supports Facebook statuses. It makes me update my twitter more which I enjoy.


Google Chrome.

When Google does something they do it right. This is a big one for me. Google Chrome, the only browser I use short of compatibility issues. I like it because it's small, and doesn't use much processing power to run, which is another thing I'm all about when it comes to programs. If you download any of these download this one it's the best.

Audacity

This huge one for me that I have it for free just blows my mind. It's Audacity, an open source multi track recording program. I wish I could say I use the shit out of this thing, but I don't have a good microphone and that makes me sad. Seriously though it's the working mans Protools. Thank you Audacity for kicking ass.

Media Player Classic

This is a great program. It's based off old Windows Media Player code, I'm pretty sure. It plays like every file type, and again it's one those tiny programs.
I do have one complaint no library or playlist support is really there. It's kind of lame opening a file every time I wanna change a song.


Skype

Skype to me is just a giant irony. Remember when the internet used to use the phone? Now somehow though the magic of technology the internet is the phone! They have great, great rates. Certainly better than you would get at any phone company. I only use it for the free skype to skype currently though.

Now I have two honorable mentions: 
Frontman It's a Guitar Hero like thing for computer finding good songs to play with it is the hard part, but I've had a lot of fun with it.

Alzip This one is sort of self-explanatory, I use it to decompress things. I have had some problems with it where instead of actually unzipping I have to drag and drop the files out of Alzip but it still works.

Those are all the sweet amazing programs I use go give them a try.

Lately.

I suck.

mc chris is fantastic for those who don't know. I haven't been doing much of anything sadly. Playing some Quake Live, I am going to a temp service monday. I've got nothing really to say or rant about maybe I'll update for real tomorrow.

Band PRACTICE!

I will be broadcasting the band's practice today. It should be pretty sweet hope we get someone to watch.  GO HERE! I haven't done anything but fucking play World of Warcraft for like a week so this should be a good departure. This is my scheduele: 7 A.M.ish eat a breakfast. 10 A.m. Feel tired. 11 A.M. Go to sleep. somewhere inbetween 5 and 9 P.m. wake up. And then til when I fall asleep again I internet it up, this period involves lots of World of Warcraft. I'm worthless. Seriously Hopefully we have a productive band practice maybe except I haven't written a song in like forever. I need to get on that. Maybe we can jam out a song.

I just ate Spongebob Animal Crackers and it makes me feel a little dirty... ha.

I need a cigarette. 

Get me a job. Someone. Please?

What am I doing!?

I am watching a nickelodeon movie called SPECTACULAR! I don't know why. But get this two fantastic rocking show tunes from the movie are set to be Rock Band DLC! Holy shit. Are they serious about that. This makes me want to kill all CEOs at Viacom, because if you didn't know Nick and Mtv are owned by the same company(along with BET, VH1, Comedy Central, and CBS. Just to name a few.) Seriously there is nothing rocking about this movie. Well the show choir covered Eye of the Tiger, which we all know is the best song ever to rock to. Fuck them. Fuck them hard.

 I just remember that we have a router at Aaron's now, and I need to do some wi-fi stuff on Pokemon.  It better be sweet. World of Warcraft got done last night, Fucking FINALLY! It's super fun, so far, I played it for like 5 or 6 hours. I play on Alextrezea(possibly spelled wrong.) I think I'm going to go play right now.

Today's thoughts.

It is saturday, I think. I'm pretty tired. I installed WoW like 2 days ago and I'm still installing patches, fuck it all. I really want to start playing. This tax return is probably the best thing to happen to me and video games. It's all very good. I've been playing Guild Wars too. It's kind of weird, not the most sure I like it. But it's free and I can play it when ever.

 I'm watching Remember the Titans, great film by the way. I haven't been doing much else with my life, thinking about how fucked up the economy is, wishing I had a job. Then again I really haven't been looking. Goddamit.

I pretty pumped about getting the band back together. Doing another rename, going to talk to the bros about it. Going to do a Beatles cover. I only make music for the chicks.
